Carolyn Ramzy

is an ethnomusicologist, author, and lecturer whose work focuses on how local arts and cultural organizations can facilitate social change and promote community prosperity. Her research focuses on how Egyptian folk music helped Coptic Orthodox Christians articulate a political identity during the Egyptian Spring. She holds a bachelor of musical arts from the Eastman School of Music, a MA from Florida State University, and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of Toronto
