Gamal El-Ghitany

(1945–2015) is an internationally acclaimed Egyptian novelist, short story writer and journalist. He is the author of many historical novels and cultural and political commentaries and was editor-in-chief of the literary periodical Akhbar Al-Adab (Cultural News) until his death in 2015.
